How to Calculate Bricks in a Wall?
Calculating the number of bricks manually is simple if you account for the mortar thickness. Ignoring the mortar joint will result in ordering too many bricks.
The Formula:
N = (L × H) / ((l + t) × (h + t))
- L, H: Length and Height of the wall (converted to mm)
- l, h: Length and Height of the brick (mm)
- t: Thickness of mortar joint (usually 10mm)
Why Add 5% Waste?
Bricks often break during transportation or cutting at the edges of the wall. Professional site engineers always add 5% to 10% wastage to the exact count to avoid halting construction due to material shortage.
